Best $360 I ever spent! September 11, 2009 Kelli Linn Williamson (Ohio) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
This is the best little computer I've ever owned!!! The battery life is exactly as advertised (I had trouble running it dead the first three times - as the directions recommend!), the keyboard is large and comfortable, the monitor is bright and clear, and the little guy weighs almost nothing!!! I'm a teacher, I just throw him in my bag everyday (he weighs less than my teacher's editions!). The processing speed is faster than my full size laptop, and the functionality... well, you just can't beat it!!! Buy this one!!! Like I said, THE BEST $360 BUCKS I EVER SPENT!!!
Light and Portable! September 15, 2009 S. Rivera (Michigan) 20 out of 23 found this review helpful
I went into Best Buy, and a salesman quickly tried to talk me out of buying a Netbook to begin with. To go with a cheap full-sized laptop -- imagine that, pricier than the Netbooks!
I found this on sale at Walmart. For $300+, I said to hell with it. It's worth the risk. Boy, was the salesperson wrong! I used this extremely light Netbook for documents, surfing the web, and streaming videos. It won't stream HD videos well, but with such a small screen resolution, you really don't see a difference with standard quality.
I picked up a friend's full-sized laptop, and after having such a light-weight version, her's felt like a ton of bricks! I would never go back to a regular laptop if it wasn't for the lack of CD-rom drive on the netbook. I keep all my files on an external drive to keep it running fast.
Very Poor Service & Warranty on Acers December 26, 2009 P. Kelly (NJ, USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased an Acer Aspire One AOD250-1580 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 7.5 Hour Battery Life. After just 3 weeks the computer developed power issues. It wouldn't hold a charge or even start up. It took me a week of daily e-mail exchanges just to get a phone number for the Acer service people. Then after another week of phone exchanges & a new power cord, I was told I'd have to mail my computer to Acer for repairs AT MY EXPENSE! There are no local Acer service centers in the US, so I could not take it in personally for warranty repairs.
Good little laptop October 22, 2009 J. Zimmerman (Swedesboro, NJ USA) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
There are a lot of reviews, so I'll cover the highlights:
Did a lot of research between this, samsung nc-10, and a few other models, and settled on this one. Honestly, they're all pretty much the same, with the distinction of the newer models come with bluetooth. I was on the fence waiting for windows 7 to come preinstalled, but I got impatient, and I wasn't sure how long it would take before they would release it with windows 7. One change I made was to swap out the ram for a 2GB chip before I even started it, booted it up, and away I went.
Keyboard is a bit smaller than used too, but it was primarily for the wife, so not a big issue. I think I'd get used to after a few hours, just a little less wiggle room for touch typing than I was used to. There was some 'crapware', mostly games, and I'm not a fan of mcaffee, so removed & installed avast & comodo instead. Runs great, and as long as you get that it's not supposed to be a powerhouse, you'll be fine. The weight is very nice, my wife will be taking with her to hospital & other places, so compared to my old laptop (17" screen), its barely there!
We love it & think you won't go wrong on this. Glossy finish shows fingerprints, but it looks good. Screen is really nice, sharp, beautiful colors. Touchpad is seamless, which is nice so that you don't get crumbs in the cracks (sitting on the couch.. it happens), and build quality seems pretty solid.
