| Customer Reviews: I love this thing October 29, 2009 cg (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just got this, directly from Amazon. So far I love it. There were not a lot of details on Amazon, but it has everything I hoped and more. It was cheaper than if ordered it through Dell with the same features (cost $325 on Amazon when I got it), and arrived in less than 4 days from when I placed my order, with the free super saver shipping. It has Windows XP Home, Microsoft works, a digital tv tunerand antenna, SD card reader (might work for other cards, but I only have SD), three USB ports, one HDMI and more. It also came with the 6 cell battery. What a great surpise. It was simple to set up and was up and running in about 5 minutes. It is also easy to use. I have an optical mouse I am using with it and ordered an external DVD/CD drive on ebay. I looked and looked on ebay and bid on several netbooks, but they either went too high or I was outbid. This is a much better deal anyway. I'm very happy!
Great Dell Mini 10 December 7, 2009 Marcelle08 (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am extremely pleased with the Dell Mini 10 laptop. When I bought it I read the reviews and wasn't sure what to expect. I already have a 15 inch Toshiba laptop so I bought the Dell Mini specifically for the size. I wanted something to carry that's not heavy, which the Mini is. I carry it in a backpack and it doesn't weigh any more than some of my books. I don't even notice a difference. Also what I like is the battery. Once fully charged it lasts for at least 4 hours so I don't even carry the power cord with me, which is nice. The TV Tuner feature is great. I can pick up stations that are 25 miles away and the picture is good quality. The price at Amazon was a lot cheaper that what I was going to pay with Dell too.
My Favorite New Toy! A Must Have & Whats With the Bad Reviews? October 5, 2009 Always Samsung (New York, NY) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2WYUSK279BW0L I just purchased my Dell Mini 10 (Blue Cover) and I have to say that this was one of the best investments I ever made. If you think you are getting a high end laptop for the price of three-hundred bucks, then you are sorely mistaken. This is basically a smart phone PDA increased to the size of a ten inch screen with a keyboard attached. Most of the bells & whistles are intact.
At first it took me some time to get use to the screen. Websites are slightly altered due to the 10 inch screen, so and with the tool bar on top that includes (File, Refresh, etc) it can seem like there's hardly any room to view webpage's, but you'll get use to it. Viewing any site that you would on a regular desktop will have certain parts of the page moved around when viewing it on your netbook & this is to be expected because of the size.
I know everyone is complaining about the keypad, but it's really not that bad. It does take a few tries before you realized what works best for you. I've learned from having a Dell Studio Laptop that the best thing to do is just utilize the free space as a mouse and click. Don't bother trying to hit down on the key, but just double tap on the keypad to pick a selection. If you don't, you will find the experience of navigating through websites, typing a document on word, etc to be a horrendous experience.
Otherwise, if you are looking for a great small compact netbook to stay connected to the web, check email, browse a few sites - then this is the netbook for you. There isn't much customization due to the small size of the netbook that feels very light just a little under three pounds and practically smaller and skinnier then the new Twilight book. I would have it ordered it on amazon, but it was cheaper through Dell.
Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase because it's a great investment for anyone who needs internet access on the go. The only complaint I have is the price. I know its three-hundred, but I own a regular laptop with a 15 inch screen & that HP was only three-hundred. Sure, it was not a high end groundbreaking laptop, but it does the trick & power wise, it's stronger than the mini. I really feel the price point should drop by hundred bucks. Otherwise, this is still a great PC tool to have.
Pros:
Light weight (Less then three pounds)
Customizable Cover with different colors
Windows XP (Thank GOD - Vista is so WHACK)
Keyboard is 90% size of a real keyboard
Wi-Fi
3 USB slots
160GB Memory
1.66 GHZ
1GB RAM
Cons:
A bit pricey IMO - It really should be two hundred & under
No DVD Slot
Will *never* buy a Dell again ... EVER!!!! December 1, 2009 beckster943 (New York) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Oh my goodness, Dell USED to make good computers, and USED to have good customer service.
I didn't get this computer through Amazon, so the shipping is totally the other company's fault, but I had to set the record straight about this computer.
When we set up the computer, it only worked for 4 days before it froze and wouldn't shut off. We pushed in the power button and repowered on, and got a blue screen with lots of characters.
So we then tried to call Dell. HAH!! Their customer "service" is a total misnomer because you will be put on hold for no less than 30 minutes and some guy in a really thick Indian accent - named "Richard" of course, yeah right - will ask you 100 questions and then transfer you to someone else. I think we spent 4 hours on the phone with various people from India.
So I will NEVER EVER EVER buy from Dell again. Buyer beware - there are MUCH better computers out there.
Dell Mini NetBook January 25, 2010 amurray (United States) I like this mini; however, I have since bought a mouse to use with it. It would move too fast with just a mere motion near the key pad. I think I will like it better with the mouse. I do not know how to use the TV feature. I tried it and was able to pick up only one station...a food network. Is this how it is suppose to work? The screen is small, but should expect this. It finds web sites quickly and is easy to transport when traveling.
