Great netbook, absolutely love it, touch pad not good June 19, 2009 H. Divakaran (san diego) 60 out of 62 found this review helpful
Got it from Wal Mart for 298 $. This is a great netbook
pros
- After uninstalling Google Toolbar and McAfee and other useless software came with the netbook, it is really fast. 1 GB is enough, if you do that cleanup.
- Thinner than D150 model, very light weight.
- keyboard is small still usable
cons
- touchpad isn't that good, gesture for scroll doesn't work always.
- screen is glossy, but usable. I prefer glossy screen, some people won't like it.
Don't buy Acer. They're inexpensive for a reason. October 27, 2009 Ryan C. Winner (Easton, PA, USA) 88 out of 95 found this review helpful
I've read about this computer on several websites. Amazon.com had the best price. I bought this thing on June 17. By mid-July the screen started to flicker and then died. I troubleshooted this problem by plugging it into my TV proving that it was the LCD screen that had died in less than 1 month. I used my warranty and I had to pay to send it to their service center in Texas. When I got the computer back the screen flickered the same day I got it, so I sent it back to them. The second time I got the computer back the left side hinge for the LCD screen was broken and obviously gouged with a screw driver and it was missing one of the rubber legs on the bottom, so I sent it in again....... I got it back today. Having owned this computer for just over 4 months, only being able to use if for roughly 2 months, they repaired the hinge and replaced the rubber leg with a SMALLER ONE. Now it does not even sit balanced. Very disappointed in Acer. This is my FORTH Acer computer since 1998 and am very disappointed not only in this computer but their repair service. I hope all my writing here helps someone.
Great netbook!! September 30, 2009 Adam Solomon (Roy Washington (hick town)) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
Got this as a present for my birthday, fantastic little netbook. Packed with Bloat-ware though (one of the reasons I rated 4 stars) xp is great out of the box for checking emails, going on Myspace/Facebook, googleing your ex girlfriend... (stalker status!) After about 2 weeks of use, just because of the bloat-ware, and some other features it had to offer, I decided to install Windows 7. It runs spectacularly,
The battery from the factory leaves something to be desired as it only last 2 hours on a good day. But with the 6 cell battery I get about 4 hours. What good is a netbook you can take anywhere if you can't take it anywhere without a charger? The screen on the acer is magnificent, crystal clear, amazing colors, and its bright and beautiful. The webcam is okay but if you take pictures for Myspace on it or craigslist, you may be dissapointed. It's color is a bit dull, and the pictures are not the best but in all honesty I rarely use it anyway.
While the keyboard is smaller when moving from another laptop its not a hugely noticeable difference, I can still type without mistakes (other than my poor typing skills on any computer) and the best feature that was the nail in the coffin, was the touchpad. I would never been able to use the hp mini's or some of the msi wind's because of there retarded touchpad having the left and right buttons on the left and right side.
All in all a very solid netbook, and If I could buy another I would definately do it. Beautiful in design, Light in weight, Awesome functionality, and incredible speed.
Acer netbook matches its PR July 12, 2009 Edward A. Berlin (New York) 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
Terrific product. For traveling, its size & weight is perfect. It has sufficient ram & disk size for my (non-gaming) needs, which is Internet use, taking notes in libraries, & writing. Character fonts are extremely sharp, & I'm pleased at the variable screen brightness controls, so that I can use it in dark interiors and outside on sunny days. I'm 100% satisfied.
Nice Little Netbook July 12, 2009 NoCensorship (FreeAmerica) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
This model is fairly new. So it has the usual features, i.e. built in wi-fi, camera, 160 GB drive, etc, etc. This is the 3 hr battery model. I have no idea where Amazon gets their tech specs. We just bought this and the manual states that it comes with 1 GB of RAM, and is upgradeable to 2 GB. It recognized 4 wireless connections in my area the instant it was powered on. So far it's great for what it was bought for, the internet, small low demand games, music, simple word processing...
